We flew into Portland on Delta Airline. We sat in the first class cabin and the flight was relatively uneventful. We did notice an old couple chucking down liquor before the plane even took off, and the flight assistant had to slow them down. One time when the man tried to get off his seat to get to the bathroom, he almost lost balance and fell into my lap. Fortunately, he held on to my seat back.
Anyway, on the way into Portland, we saw the top of Mount Hood above the clouds. The Pacific Cascade Range is punctuated with volcanoes, and Mount Hood is the closest one to Portland. Just like Seattle has Mt Reinier, Portland has Mt. Hood. The plane was flying quite close to the mountain. Unfortunately, we were sitting on the right hand side and the mountain was on the left side. We took a guess when we reserved our seats, now we know to pick the left hand side next time.
It turned out this Saturday was Portland’s Rose Parade Day. The parade is the second largest rose parade in the US, right behind the Rose Bowl Parade in California. Portland is famous for their many city parks and floral attractions. we’ll tell you why later.
